Introduction
Blowy is a specialized mobile app designed for water sports enthusiasts, offering comprehensive
weather and event calendar features tailored to their needs. The app provides detailed information
about weather conditions, including wind speed, water temperature, current direction, gusts,
humidity, and other essential metrics for athletes. It also allows users to discover, add, and review
spots (locations for water sports), providing insights into wave height, optimal kite size, and other
relevant details. Initially launched as an MVP exclusively for iPhones, Blowy has since been adapted
for Android devices and continues to evolve with new features and enhancements.
Problems
The initial version of Blowy focused on delivering critical weather and event data but faced
challenges in expanding its user base and improving functionality. The primary issues included
limited platform availability (iOS only), a lack of comprehensive spot information, and inadequate
branding that did not fully resonate with the target audience. Users needed a more intuitive way to
access detailed data, add and review spots, and receive tailored recommendations based on their
specific water sports activities.
Research and Analysis
To address these challenges, we conducted user research involving surveys and interviews with
water sports enthusiasts to gather insights into their specific needs and preferences. We analyzed
competing apps in the market to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement. Our findings
highlighted the need for a more inclusive app that offered cross-platform availability, enriched spot
information, and improved branding to better engage users and enhance their overall experience.

Decision
The redesign and development decisions were driven by a focus on user needs and market
demands. We successfully integrated the app across both iOS and Android platforms, allowing for
greater accessibility and user engagement. The spot information section was significantly
enhanced with detailed descriptions and interactive features to help users find and evaluate
locations more effectively. Branding elements were refreshed to create a vibrant, cohesive visual
identity that appeals to water sports enthusiasts. Additionally, we improved the app’s functionality
by incorporating user feedback and refining the user experience based on extensive testing.
Results
The changes were implemented over a three-month period using Agile methodology, allowing for
iterative improvements based on user feedback. As a result of these enhancements, UV-Treat
experienced a 25% increase in conversion rates within the first three months of the new design
going live. The streamlined checkout process also led to a 40% reduction in bounce rates at the
payment stage. Additionally, customer satisfaction saw a marked improvement, with more repeat
purchases and greater loyalty to the brand, demonstrating the success of the project.
